It needs plenty of water during the summer season (growing season), but do not overwater it: remember to not wet the body of the plant while it in sunlight, to prevent sun burns and scars. Keep almost dry in winter. Despite needing full sun, it can tolerate half shade, too. It can tolerate short frost periods, but requires frost protection for safe cultivation. Healthy plants will start blooming when they reached the diameter of 40-50 cm.
-It propagates by seeds.
-Old plants tend to lean to the south, to allow their spines to better protect the plant from the harsh desert wind and sun.
